অল্প [ alpa ] a small in number or amount; a few; a little, a bit; short; of short duration, short-lived (অল্পজীবী); (gr.) unaspirated (অল্পপ্রাণ); illiberal, narrow (অল্পমতি); delicate (অল্পতনু); less than what is necessary or usual, insufficient, inadequate, scanty, poor. ☐ pro. a small number of persons or things. ~ই adv. only a few, a little; but little; rarely, scarcely, seldom; insufficiently. অল্প অল্প করে adv. little by little, bit by bit; by degrees; gradually; slowly. ~কাল, ~ক্ষণ n. a short time, a short while. ~কাল পরে, ~কাল মধ্যে adv. shortly after, in a short time; before long. ~চেতা a. narrow-minded; illiberal. ~জীবী a. short lived. ~জ্ঞ a. imperfectly educated, not knowledgeable; not erudite. ~তম a. minimum. ~তা, ~ত্ব n. smallness in number or quantity; shortness; shortness of duration; illiberality, narrowness; insufficiency, inadequacy, shortage. ~দর্শী a. lacking in foresight, short-sighted; imprudent; lacking in experience, inexperienced; narrow in outlook. ~দর্শিতা n. want of foresight, short-sightedness; imprudence; want of experience,; narrowness of outlook. ~ধী a. dull-witted, unintelligent. ~প্রাণ a. short-lived; narrow-minded, illiberal, mean-minded; (gr.) unaspirated. ~বয়সী, ~বয়স্ক a. of tender age, young, minor. ~বিদ্য a. possessing but a little learning; imperfectly educated. ~বিদ্যা n. a little learning; imperfect education. অল্পবিদ্যা ভয়ংকরী a little learning is a dangerous thing. ~বিস্তর adv. & a. more or less. ~বুদ্ধি same as অল্পধী । ~ভাষী a. of few words; reserved in speech; taciturn; reticent. ~ভাষীতা n. taciturnity; reticence. ~মতি a. mean minded. ~মাত্র a. just a little. ~মাত্রা n. a small dose or quantity. ~মূল্য a. cheap. ~মূল্যে adv. at a low price, cheaply. ~শ adv. same as অল্প অল্প করে । ~সংখ্যক a. a few, small in number. ~স্বল্প a. a little, a bit; a few; not much or many; not frequent; temperate; moderate.

অল্প [ alpa ] বিণ. 1 ঈষৎ, কম (অল্প গরম, অল্প কথার মানুষ); 2 একটু, একটুখানি, সামান্য (অল্প একটু ভাত); 3 লঘু (অল্পপ্রাণ); 4 অনুদার, হীন (অল্পমতি); 5 ক্ষুদ্র (অল্প বৃদ্ধি, অল্প শক্তি)। ☐ সর্ব. কম লোক বা বস্তু বা বিষয় (অল্পেই একথা জানে, অল্পের জন্য)। [সং. √ অল্ + প]। বি. ~তা, ~ত্ব। অল্প জলের মাছ বি. (আল.) 1 সামান্য পুঁজিবিশিষ্ট লোক, সামান্য অবস্থার লোক; 2 যে ব্যক্তি অল্প ধন বা বিদ্যা নিয়েও ধন বা বিদ্যার বড়াই করে। অল্পের উপর দিয়ে যাওয়া ক্রি. বি. সামান্য ক্ষতি বা কষ্টের বিনিময়ে রেহাই পাওয়া। ~জীবী (বিন্) বিণ অল্পকাল বাঁচে এমন। বি. ~জীবিতা। ~জ্ঞ বিণ. অল্প জানে এমন, অল্প জ্ঞানবিশিষ্ট। ~দর্শী (-র্শিন্) বিণ. অদূরদর্শী। ~প্রাণ বিণ. 1 অল্পায়ু, অল্প কাল বাঁচে এমন; 2 ক্ষুদ্রপ্রাণ, অনুদার; 3 (ব্যাক.) ক্ষীণ শ্বাসযোগে উচ্চারিত। ~প্রাণ বর্ণ প্রতি বর্গের প্রথম, তৃতীয় ও পঞ্চম বর্ণ এবং য র ল ব এই কয়টি বর্ণ অল্প শ্বাসযোগে উচ্চারিত হয় বলে এদের অল্পপ্রাণ বর্ণ বলে। ~বয়স্ক বিণ. বয়স অল্প এমন, অল্পবয়সী। ~বিদ্যা বি. অগভীর জ্ঞান, সামান্য লেখাপড়া। অল্পবিদ্যা ভয়ংকরী সামান্য বিদ্যা খুব ক্ষতিকর কারণ এতে অহংকার জন্মে অথচ প্রকৃত পাণ্ডিত্য লাভ হয় না। ~বিস্তর বিণ. ক্রি. বিণ. মোটামুটিরকম; একটু-আধটু; কম-বেশী। ~বুদ্ধি বিণ. সামান্য বুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন; মন্দমতি; জড়বুদ্ধি। ~ভাষী (-ষিন্) বিণ্. কম কথা বলে এমন। ~মতি বিণ. হীনচেতা, নীচ; বোকা অল্পবুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন। ~স্বল্প বিণ. একটু-আধটু। অল্পাধিক বিণ. কম-বেশি। অল্পায়ু, অল্পায়ুঃ (-য়ুস্) বিণ. অল্পকাল বাঁচে এমন। অল্পাশয় বিণ. হীনমতি; তুচ্ছ বিষয়ে আকাঙ্ক্ষা করে এমন। অল্পাহার বি. অল্প আহার, লঘু ভোজন। ☐ বিণ. অল্প খায় এমন। অল্পাহারী (-রিন্) বিণ. কম খায় এমন। অল্পে অল্পে, ক্রি-বিণ. ক্রমশ ধীরে ধীরে; সামান্যের উপর দিয়ে।
