দক্ষ1 [ dakṣa1 ] n (myth.) the name of a divine being entrusted formerly with the charge of creation of earthly beings; the father of Sati (সতী), the wife of Shiva (শিব), ~কন্যা n. Sati (সতী), the wife of Shiva (শিব). ~যজ্ঞ n. (myth.) a religious feast held by Daksha (দক্ষ) in which Shiva (শিব) was not invited and was publicly abused or censured and Sati (সতী), the wife of Shiva, unable to stand this, died of grief. Shiva came with his followers to the feast, spoilt it and killed Daksha; (fig.) tremendous turmoil; utter confusion, pandemonium. দক্ষ2 [ dakṣa2 ] a expert, skilful, adroit; clever; competent. fem. দক্ষা । ~তা n. expertness, skill, adroitness; cleverness; competence.

দক্ষ1 [ dakṣa1 ] বিণ. নিপুণ, পটু, পারদর্শী (দক্ষ শিল্পী, দক্ষ কারিগর)। [সং. √ দক্ষ্ + অ]। ~তা বি. পটুতা, পারদর্শিতা (কর্মদক্ষতা)। স্ত্রী. দক্ষা। দক্ষ2 [ dakṣa2 ] বি. প্রজাপতিবিশেষ, ইনি সতী ও নক্ষত্ররূপিণী সপ্তবিংশতি কন্যার জনক। [সং. √ দক্ষ্ + অ]। ~কন্যা বি. শিবপত্নী সতী, দুর্গা। ~জা বি. দক্ষকন্যা -র অনুরূপ। ~যজ্ঞ বি. 1 প্রজাপতি দক্ষের দ্বারা অনুষ্ঠিত শিবহীন যজ্ঞ, যে যজ্ঞে শিবনিন্দা শুনে সতী প্রাণত্যাগ করেন এবং শিব অনুচরদের সঙ্গে এসে যজ্ঞ পণ্ড করেন; 2 (আল.) প্রলয় কাণ্ড, চূড়ান্ত হট্টগোল।
