ভূমি [ bhūmi ] n the earth; the surface of the earth; soil; ground; floor; agricultural land, land, a field, a place, a site (রণভূমি): a country (জন্মভূমি); a repertory or receptacle (বিশ্বাসভূমি); (geom.) a base. ~কম্প, ~খন্ড, ~গর্ভ same as ভূকম্প, ভূখণ্ড and ভূগর্ভ respectively (see ~ভূ). ~গ্রহ n. land acquisition. ভূমিগ্রহ-আধিকারিক n. land acquisition officer. ভূমিগ্রহ-সমাহর্তা n. a Land Acquisition Collector. ~জ a. grown out of the earth; earth-born; holding tenancy of land in lieu of menial services. ভূমিজ প্রজা (hist.) a villein. ~তল n. the surface of the earth; ground; floor. ~দান n. a grant of land. ~রাজস্ব n. land revenue. ~রেখা n. base line. ~লেখা n. land records. ~শয্যা, ~শায়িত, ~শায়ী same as ভূশয্যা, ভূশায়িত and ভূশায়ী respectively (see ভূ). ভূমিষ্ঠ হওয়া v. to fall to the ground; to prostrate oneself on the ground (ভূমিষ্ঠ হয়ে প্রণাম); to be born. ~সাৎ a. fallen to the ground; razed to the ground. ভূমিসাৎ করা v. to pull down to the ground; to raze to the ground. ভূমিসাৎ হওয়া v. to fall to the ground; to be razed to the ground. ~সুত n. the Mars. ~স্থ, ~স্থিত a. lying or situated on the ground.

ভূমি [ bhūmi ] বি. 1 পৃথিবী; 2 ভূপৃষ্ঠ, মাটি; 3 মেঝে (ভূমিশয্যা); 4 ক্ষেত্র, জমি (নিষ্কর ভূমি, ভূমিহীন প্রজা); 5 আধার (বিশ্বাসভূমি); 6 দেশ (জন্মভূমি); 7 তল, তলা (সপ্তভূমিক অট্টালিকা); 8 (জ্যামি.) ত্রিভূজের শীর্ষবিন্দুর বিপরীত দিকের বাহু, basc. [সং. √ ভূ + মি]। ~কম্প বি. ভূমির অর্থাৎ পৃথিবীর কম্পন। ~গর্ভ বি. পৃথিবীর অভ্যন্তর, ভূপৃষ্ঠে নিম্নবর্তী স্থান। ~জ বিণ. মাটিতে বা খেতে উৎপন্ন; কৃষিজাতা। ~তল বি. ভূপৃষ্ঠ, মাটির বা জমির উপরিতল, ভূতল। ~দাস বি. অন্যের জমিতে বাধ্যতামূলক ভাবে যে শ্রমিক বেগার খাটে, সার্ফ। ~শয্যা বি. মাটিতে পড়ে যাওয়া, ধরাশায়ী হওয়া; ভূমিরূপ শয্যা। ~সংস্কার বি. চাষের জমির এবং চাষির অবস্থার উন্নতিসাধন। ~সাৎ বিণ. ভূমিতে পতিত; মাটির সঙ্গে মিশে গেছে এমন (ঘরবাড়ি সব ভূমিসাৎ হয়ে গেছে)।
