সংস্কার [ saṃskāra ] n purification; the sacrament of purification or reclamation; a sacrament (দশবিধসংস্কার); cleansing; dressing (কেশসংস্কার); reformation, reforms; mending, repair; correction, amendment (ভ্রমসংস্কার); revision (গ্রন্থসংস্কার); an irrational belief or notion, a stock notion; a prejudice or superstition; an impression (on the mind); innate knowledge or feeling, intuition, instinct (পূর্বজন্মের সংস্কার). সংস্কার করা v. to purify; to purify or reclaim sacramen tally; to cleanse; to dress, to reform; to mend, to repair; to correct, to amend; to revise. অন্ধ সংস্কার n. a blind or irrational notion, a prejudice. গৃহ সংস্কার n. house-repair; (daily) cleansing of a house. বেশ সংস্কার n. tidying up of one's dress; dressing. সংস্কারক n. a purifier; a sacramental purifier or reclaimer; a cleaner; a dresser; a reformer; a mender, a repairer, a repairman; a corrector, an amender; a reviser. ~সাধন করা same as সংস্কার করা । ~বদ্ধ a. bound by stock notions or superstitions or prejudices or instincts. ~বর্জিত, ~হীন a. (rare) not having received any sacrament; free from superstition or prejudice or stock notions. ~বাদ n. the doctrine that the world may be made better by human effort, meliorism. ~বিমুখ a. averse to reforms; conservative. সংস্কারাচ্ছন্ন a. thoroughly dominated by or blinded by superstitions or prejudices or stock notions.

সংস্কার [ saṃskāra ] বি. 1 শুদ্ধি, শোধন; 2 শাস্ত্রীয় অনুষ্ঠানাদির দ্বারা পবিত্র করা বা পতিত অবস্থা থেকে উদ্ধার; 3 বিবাহ গর্ভাধান জাতকর্ম পুংসবন নামকরণ অন্নপ্রাশন উপনয়ন সমাবর্তন সীমন্তোন্নয়ন ও চূড়াকরণ হিন্দুদের এই দশ রকমের শাস্ত্রীয় অনুষ্ঠান; 4 পরিষ্কার বা নির্মল করা (অঙ্গসংস্কার, দেহসংস্কার); 5 উন্নতিবিধান, উন্নয়ন, উৎকর্ষসাধন, ত্রুটি বা অপূর্ণতা সংশোধন (সমাজ সংস্কার, শিক্ষা সংস্কার); 6 মেরামত (জীর্ণ সংস্কার); 7 ধারণা, বিশ্বাস (কুসংস্কার, সংস্কারবশে)। [সং. সম্ + √ কৃ + অ]। ~ক বিণ. বি. সংশোধক, বিশোধক; মেরামতকারী; উন্নতিবিধায়ক, উৎকর্ষসাধক; ভ্রম বা প্রমাদ দূরকারী; কুসংস্কার দূরকারী; সমাজহিতৈষী। ~বিমুখ বিণ. পরিবর্তন চায় না এমন। বি. ~বিমুখতা।
